As the unifying champion for quality youth mentoring in Nebraska, we help close the mentoring gap for the 1-in-3 young people growing up without mentors.
HOW WE USE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS:
- $50 pays for a background check for one potential mentor.
- $250 pays for three months of data collection software for a partner mentoring program.
- $500 provides a scholarship for one partner program employee to attend the National Mentoring Summit.
- $1,000 sponsors a training for youth-serving professionals.
A STORY FROM OUR AGENCY:
Our Success Mentors program helps match kids with high rates of school absences with a mentor they can see every day at school.
One match from Belvedere Elementary School enjoys spending lunch and downtime together where they build a stronger bond, develop trust, and foster a deeper understanding of each other's interests and goals.
The mentor stated that “I’ve learned more from her than I have in a long time just by watching her grow,” as she describes how her mentee has taught her the valuable skill of patience. In the same light, the mentee expressed that she loves how open-minded her mentor is, especially when she shares random things about her life. “I enjoy being with her and being able to grow with her.”
The two have developed a relationship that goes beyond academics and fosters personal growth and development. They are intentional about celebrating the student’s small and big wins, including when the young lady won student of the month! They have grown together and plan to remain connected even after the program ends.
