NET Radio Goes Digital to Offer Expanded Programming

As of May 2009 NET Radio listeners will have even more programming options with NET Radio's new digital transmission service, called HD-2. HD Radio allows stations to broadcast digital audio, multiple program streams and traditional FM, all on the same frequency - which for NET Radio listeners means more news during the day and jazz throughout the night.

HD-2 will be available statewide online at netNebraska.org/radio and will be broadcast on NET Radio's KUCV/Lincoln transmitter as well. Lincoln-area listeners need an HD Radio to hear it over-the-air.

A grant allowed NET Radio to add this new program service, which coincided with the KUCV transmitter replacement. NET Radio has also received grants to upgrade the transmitters at KHNE/Hastings and KLNE/Lexington. Work at those sites will begin later in 2009. NET Radio hopes to extend HD Radio to other sites across the state as transmitters need to be replaced and/or funding becomes available. zz and their mastery of technical skill.
