Story: KZUM
Thanks to grants from the Woods Charitable Fund, the Lincoln Community Foundation, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, KZUM will start up a second community radio station this year, as we convert to digital transmission. We are partnering with dozens of local groups and organizations to create unique, new shows for this station.
Seventeen Lincoln schools are producing a 30 minute weekly show featuring the accomplishments of their ELL students. "What's Your Recipe, The Ingredients of Lincoln," asks local businesses how they give back to the community. Other shows in development include our first Arabic language program for Lincoln's Middle Eastern and Northern African community, a show featuring Greek music and culture, business development programs in English and Spanish, and a neighborhood issues talk show.
KZUM 1 (the current station) and KZUM 2 (starting mid-year) serve Lincoln by providing information, commentary, and entertainment that directly reflect the make-up and interests of our community. We are truly "powered by the community."
