Story: Houses of Hope

John had a 16 year history of chemical dependency.  John was referred to Houses of Hope due to his chemical use, lack of social or family supports, homelessness, lack of employment and need for on-going chemical dependency treatment.

Upon admission to Houses of Hope John stated that we wanted to "get back on track" with his life - to obtain employment, prepare to move into his own apartment and remain free of alcohol and drug use.

John worked with Houses of Hope staff to develop daily living skills, build a sober support network, apply for jobs and maintain employment and to realize healthier patterns of living.   John was motivated to achieve goals he had set for himself.  He participated in Houses of Hope programming and was involved in AA within the community.  John obtained employment - and was promoted to shift supervisor.  John has reunited with his family and also relies on a sober support network that he formed while in the Houses of Hope Halfway House program. John graduated from Houses of Hope with over 1 year of sobriety and was able to move into his own apartment.
