Story: CenterPointe, Inc.
When 18 year-old "Jake" came to CenterPointe's Youth Residential Treatment program he had a history of major depression, oppositional defiant disorder and chronic alcohol and marijuana dependence. He had already tried multiple facilities and programs to help him-all without success.
He and his family were struggling with his severe substance use problems, weekend runaway issues, chronic arguments, poor school attendance and failing grades. Jake had been charged with Minor in Possession, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and had been hospitalized for suicidal thoughts.
What a difference 7 months can make! After integrated mental health and substance use treatment, Jake's life has improved significantly. He's accepted his co-occurring disorders and is taking proper medication for treatment. He's maintained sobriety, gotten a GED, obtained a college scholarship and completed the enrollment process. He's been able to maintain part-time employment; improved his relationship and communication with his family; and successfully completed his probation. Jake continues to be involved in self-help groups and is clearly on the path to a healthier, more productive future.
