Story: Capital Humane Society

The Smith family came to the Capital Humane Society 12 years ago, with 2 small children, looking for a particular dog they had seen on the shelter website.  They were disappointed when the dog had already been adopted.  They decided to walk through the kennels to see the other dogs needing a home.

Lucky for them, they found a beautiful black puppy with big brown eyes, long legs and huge feet, who they later named Zoey.  Zoey fit perfectly into the family - loved all children, never bit and just loved being with "her people".  She grew to be about 90 lbs, was very tall and became the families "gentle giant".  Once she learned it was not acceptable to greet company at the door by putting her front feet on their shoulders and that just because her head was at table height, she was not to eat food off the table, all was well.  Zoey loved to go camping, for walks, for car rides and just lying in ‘her' backyard, watching over ‘her' kingdom.  She had a long life with the Smith family and they felt truly blessed that Zoey was available for adoption the day they visited the Capital Humane Society.
