A Story from our agency:
By advocating for changes in public policy and investment in effective programs, Voices for Children in Nebraska improves the lives of Nebraska's children. Our work doesn't happen one child at a time, but rather through policy changes that impact hundreds and thousands of children all at once. Policy victories for Nebraska's children don't happen by accident. Through careful research, building public awareness, and skilled advocacy, Voices for Children shapes Nebraska's public policies by serving as a constant, consistent voice for children wherever decisions are made. For example, in 1999, Voices for Children advocated for the creation of Kids Connection, Nebraska's health insurance program for low-income children. This program provides access to health care for nearly 1 in 3 Nebraska children. A decade later, in 2009, Voices for Children advocated for the expansion of the eligiblity level for the program, helping ensure 8,000 more children can get the health care they need to grow into healthy, successful adults.
