A STORY FROM OUR AGENCY:

Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) exists to enrich lives by telling stories that make audiences and participants think and feel. When the opportunity arises to tell these stories through the voice of a talented young actor, the impact is even more profound.

In 2016, OCP presented To Kill a Mockingbird. Told through the eyes of Scout Finch, audiences learn about her father Atticus Finch, an attorney who strives to prove the innocence of a black man unjustly accused of rape. Middle school student Chloe Irwin, auditioned at OCP and won her dream role of “Scout.” At a time when violence and a divided country was on the rise, this role offered a life lesson for Chloe; “The story taught me to always try to see people for who they actually are,” said Chloe.

This season, Chloe tackled another sensitive topic when she was cast as Mary Phagan in Parade. Parade is the Tony Award-winning musical based around the real-life trial of Leo Frank, a Jewish man wrongfully accused of murdering 13-year old Mary Phagan in a small town. Chloe Irwin was captivating as Mary. Her authentic sorrow and joy made her appearances in the story memorable and stirring - Drew Neneman/Omaha World-Herald.

It is important that OCP continue to tell thought-provoking stories through theatre to enrich the lives of audiences and participants both on and offstage.
