How we use your contributions:

• $75 provides an hour of caseworker time with a unplanned pregnancy client or with an adoptive parent doing a home study, or a counselor's time with a child.
• $100 will cover the excess expense of a child in foster care above the state's reimbursement for a month.
• $250 covers two weeks of cradle care for an infant.
• $1,500 will cover most of the expense of a completed home study or a search.
• $25,000 can cover the cost of a completed adoption depending upon medical needs and other factors.

Did you know? Nebraska Children's Home is the ONLY agency in the United States that has no charged fees for adoption services for more than 117 years? When Ron Leach of Lincoln, NE, turned 25 years old this January he wanted what every 25-year-old would want: a big birthday bash, including a cake and a DJ, attended by everyone he's ever known. But Ron wanted one other thing this year, something that really set him apart; he wanted everyone who attended his party to donate $10 to the Nebraska Children's Home Society (NCHS) Foundation. "I always knew I was adopted," says Ron. "There was never a time that I wondered where I came from or how I came to be with my parents. I was always taught to be proud--proud that I was adopted, and greatful, just as my parents were, to the Nebraska's Children's Home Society for making us a family. Every day the Nebraska Children's Home Society receives notes of thanks, not just from proud parents, but from the children themselves, now grown, writing to tell us about the life they now enjoy-- one they may never have known. "Who knows where I would have ended up or what my life would have been like without NCHS," says Ron, whose parents could not have afforded to adopt him on their own. "I had a wonderful childhood, growing up in the church, with a mother who shared her love of music with me."
